Tone Secret Of The Pro's

                     CHASING TONE:

As guitar players we all want that sweet sound that is just perfect to us. And of course to everyone listening. We want to cut through the mix when we solo. And really all the time to be honest, haha. Some are occasional explores, some mess with tone often, then there are us just straight tone tweakers. Even if you have your tone set, this is worth exploring.

So I just did a post about using an OD into a RAT 2, in order to achieve more full on fuzz sound. But I also added, that you can change the voice and expression of this idea, with an EQ pedal. The power of an EQ pedal is so over looked. Like for example big muffs have a mid scoop. Some may want those mids back. Many have used a Tube Screamer type OD for this. Well instead more efficient, and precisely an EQ pedal will fill this role much better. Maybe you it's an amp, a guitar, or some other pedal. EQ IT! I find that placing it after my drives is where it really shines.

         What First EQ To Get?

I wanted to try this out after seeing it recommended by true pros. So I went with Behringer. For $25, to test out in the bedroom. Unbeatable. Now there are some fancy EQ'S out there, but they all do the same thing. With the exception that some have more bands then others to attenuate, or accentuate. The one I got has seven. It's a direct copy of the boss EQ. It is a good pedal. Certainly if you aren't planning to gig it. And just a quick word, on Behringer. They actually supply companies like JHS with parts they use to build their pedals. As well as , many others. They clone just about anything popular, but they do pretty good at it. If you are looking to try something you haven't then they are great for this. I will be doing a video on my Behringer EQ very soon. Look out for that!!!

Taylor Hawkins The Facts: Heart Weighed Twice The Normal Weight!

 Taylor Hawkins Update:

Just a quick update to say it has been confirmed that Hawkins did indeed have 10 different drugs in his system. Again many of which could be prescribed. But that's not confirmed. There was a white powder found in the room as well. But the big take is his heart was twice the average size. Weighing 600grams, compared to a normal 300-350.

Again my condolences, and more updates as soon as they come in so check back.

Taylor Hawkin's Death: The Facts so far...

      Quick Background:

Oliver Taylor Hawkin's was born in Fort Worth Texas 1972 February 17th. He was Married to longtime partner Alison Hawkins in 2005. The couple share three children together – Oliver, 16, Annabelle, 13 and Everleigh, 8.  He along with band Foo Fighters were inducted into Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame in 2021. He joined the band in 1997, and they began in 1994. He has other side projects and is an extremely well known influential rock figure. For his drumming, and vocals.

   Stick to the Truth:

I am writing this because I am already reading articles stateing his cause of death to be overdose. They don't yet have a C.O.D. And they already claim there were 10 drugs in his system. No report on that yet. It's just that simple.

So what do we know. Well he complained of chest pains while at his hotel the night of  Friday March 25th. He was in Bogota, Colombia. An ambulance was sent out after hotel called. Due to Hawkin's complaint of chest pain. Upon arrival the medical staff encountered a team from a private ambulance service. Health workers attempted to revive Hawkins with CPR, but they were unable to do so and he was declared dead. He was 50 years old. I will say that there are reports of, THC, anti depressants, benzos, and opiates in his system. All of which mind you can be prescribed. At time of writing there is no official cause of death.

We will all mourn his death. Especially his best friend Dave Grohl, and other bandmates. But none more that his wife, and kids. It can be hard for people who write and report to just say whatever sounds exciting despite not having the whole truth or story. It is already upsetting he's gone. But until the facts are made clear just don't say any more than is absolutely known. It is an extremely disrespectful thing to do to a mourning family, and a dead legend.

That's all for now, I just wanted the facts stated. And there are not much at the moment. But Taylor deserve the truth of her s legacy to be told. As well as his family.

 My condolences,

R.I.P. Oliver Taylor Hawkins.

RAT 2, Made into Full On Fuzz! Plus a tone secret You must Know!

PROCO RAT INTO FUZZ!!! Plus Secret Sauce!!!:

So the RAT 2. The modern version ovpne of the most popular, and widely used Distortion pedals ever! Now it is technically a distortion, but as most drive pedals it can be a near clean boost, as Coldplay used it in the 90's. Or a raw Distortion like Mick Mars from Motely Crue. Then as they say it can even go borderline fuzz. So obviously a versatile pedal on it's own. But what if you pair it with an overdrive before it!

Pairing drive pedals is nothin new. And so much fun. A noise gate is recommended. Just going to be honest. But we're goin for Fuzz here. Fuzz pedals are loud in between playing. So this is to be expected. Now if you dime your RAT 2, then overdrive that naturally you push that near fuzz tone into full fuzz territory. If you are a guy who can't necessarily go out and buy a piece of gear as soon as you realize you want to. Then this is for you. I didn't have any fuzz. Had Distortion had, overdrive, no fuzz. Sad I know. But fuzz is essentially gain staring. Which is what combining drive pedals is. But wait there is a secret sauce here I have yet to get too!

               ADDING EQ AFTER YOUR DRIVES:

Yep that's right. The often over looked EQ pedal. This is a tone secret of masters. It is one of those things that seems boring, maybe even unnecessary. But No, it is a tone shaping machine. For example you like a mid point, but you like big muffs, but of course you get lost in the mix. As well as, naturally sounding a little thin, or hollow to your ear. Well, with that EQ after that muff you get your mids back. Same with the RAT 2 L, OD combo. You will be surprised the ranges of OD, DIST, and of course. Fuzz sounds you can get. You give yourself such an edge with the ability to shape any frequency. This is why there are even EQ, Fuzz combo pedals out there.

Pretty much, I love tone tweaking. I want to stick out sound different. I want people to be caught off guard for every track I make. EQ is how I do that. As well, as many seasoned pros. So if you haven't done this, stop depriving your tone. DO IT!!!

Saramonic Revision

Just a quick update on the Saramonic Smartrig 2. I mentioned an issue with the volume lowering by itself after a few seconds of constant sound. I use Bandlab. I figured out it was not the Smartrig 2, but the Daw. Once I chose to use the amp. sim. in Bandlab it took care of the issue.

Therefore overall, I want to revise my review. Especially, now after a couple months of use. I am so satisfied does exactly what I need. I can use it for dynamic, and condenser mic's. Along with any D.I. instruments. Guitar, bass, etc. Signal is clear, and strong too. I would absolutely recommend this product especially on a budget! Great little piece of equipment.
